My Story and Career

Newfoundland entrepreneur Glen McKay has more than four decades of experience as a business executive in mining,
construction and private investing. He is the founder of several businesses and remains active in the day-to-day operations
of Newfoundland Hard-Rok Inc., an explosives manufacturer with two manufacturing plants on the Island of Newfoundland
that also provides drilling and blasting services to the mining, quarrying and heavy construction industries. Through wholly
own subsidiaries it also has a manufacturing plant at the Vale Voisey’s Bay nickel mine in Labrador and another at the
Baffinland Iron Ore Mine at Mary River, Baffin Island.

Early in his career, Glen began working in business development and as a branch manager at Minpaco in St. John’s. This led
him to form his first company in 1978, MRO Supplies Ltd., which provided specialized equipment for several industries,
including mining, quarrying, heavy construction, pulp and paper, forestry and fisheries.

Glen led MRO Supplies as its president and founder and grew the company for over 10 years, eventually selling it to Stellar
Industrial in 1989. By then, Glen was on to his next company, founding Newfoundland Hard-Rok in 1985, which he continues
to lead to this day as the chair of the company’s board of directors.

Glen McKay also founded private investment firm, Sealan Capital Corporation, in 1979 and provided the capital required to
start up Apex Construction Specialties in 1987. Apex specializes in construction and building products, including industrial
and residential fencing and architectural hardware. Glen served as the board chair for Apex and maintained a major share
ownership until 2017, when the firm was sold to a Quebec-based investment group.

In 1997, Glen co-founded junior mining firm Cornerstone Capital Resources, which initially focused on projects in
Newfoundland and Labrador. During Glen’s tenure as the company’s President, Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chair,
Cornerstone’s resource exploration was expanded beyond Newfoundland and Labrador to Ecuador and Chile, with Glen
earning recognition for helping to lead the company’s growth.

Glen is no longer with Cornerstone, but is a major shareholder and watches the company’s progress closely.

Glen McKay has helped develop numerous entrepreneurial opportunities in his home province of Newfoundland and
Labrador and has been a key player in the resource development and mining construction sectors. He continues to play a
significant role in Newfoundland and Labrador’s business community.
